Thaon de Revel Bridge

The promenade Costantino Morin, stretching along the coastline of La Spezia, leads to the bridge named after the admiral Paolo Emilio Thaon de Revel, built in 2013.

The bridge is in line with Viale Diaz, crossing the public gardens close to the “Salvador Allende” Center, a multipurpose space, and the close little pine wood. If we extend this line, connecting the bridge to Viale Diaz, it will also include the historical Via Prione, thus connecting the historical core of the city with the modern Porto Mirabello, situated on the opposite part.

The bridge was the careful result of an analysis of the local context and takes inspiration from the maritime tradition: a fine white line connecting the two sides, giving the city an additional portion of sea.

The overall structure resembles the framework of boats built in the local shipyards, with a division between the yard and the deck, rejoining in a central span.
