Gran Gala dello Sport - Second edition
The event, organized by the Municipality of La Spezia through the Sports Department, will open with the band of the Navy performing the Italian National Anthem and later with greetings from the Mayor of La Spezia, Pierluigi Peracchini, and the Sports Councillor, Marco Frascatore. Subsequently, they will call athletes and representatives of sports clubs to the stage who will be honored for achieving prestigious results in official international, national, and regional competitions organized by Federations and in competitions promoted by sports promotion bodies that have brought prestige to our city.
Specifically, the following will be awarded:
- 105 regional champions;
- 40 national champions;
- 15 international Federation champions;
- 46 athletes from sports promotion bodies;
- 3 athletes called up to the national team in swimming, basketball, and boxing.
The evening will also include a tributeto the historical centenary societies of La Spezia:
- Società Canottieri Velocior,
- Sport Club Virtus,
- Società Pro Italia,
- Rari Nantes Spezia;
- Tiro a Segno Nazionale.
Athletes from the past will be honored:
- Alessandra Borio, rower, participated in the XIII Olympics in Los Angeles in the 4-row boat;
- Monica Olmi, XIII Olympics in Los Angeles, seventh in the final of the 800 freestyle;
- Josella Lombardi, excellence gymnast, called up for the Olympics in China, followed by her path in the Bocce National Team first as a champion and then as the coach of the National Team;
- Brogini Alessandro, Olympic decathlete, Moscow Olympics 1980;
- Giorgio Bambini, boxing, Olympic bronze in Mexico '68. In his memory, his daughter Barbara will come on stage,
- Paolo Paganini, RAI sports journalist.
The evening is free and open to the public until the theater seats are filled, and for the occasion, a formal dress code is appreciated, as in the best international sports awards.
