MareLibera - Festival of Sailing Solidarity

PROGRAMME:  

Friday, September 29, from 9 am to 4 pm, Saturday, September 30, from 10 am to 4 pm, Passeggiata Morin  

WORKSHOPS FOR SCHOOLS AND ASSOCIATIONS  

Sea Art by the artists of Cooperativa SOLOARTE. Many small sails to paint to tell the sea and solidarity. A sea of knots and whose fin is this? by Nave di Carta. The secrets of maritime knots and a workshop to learn about the eight species of Mediterranean cetaceans.  

Playing with the climate. Introduction to climate change; through a game of illustrated cards, participants will play and reflect on the causes and effects that govern climate dynamics.  

Fish eats fish. The marine food pyramid in a game to learn about the relationships between sea animals in the struggle for survival, without forgetting that we are also part of it and have a role to play in avoiding damage to this fragile balance.  

Discover the tsunami. Earthquakes or submarine landslides can cause tsunamis or sea waves. Through an interactive tank, children can generate a small tsunami.  

Sensory workshop: the sounds of the sea. A workshop to understand how cetacean communication systems work and the effects of underwater pollution and noise pollution.  

The physics of the Ocean. What are ocean currents? What role do salinity and water temperature play in their formation? An experimental workshop to understand the movements of large water masses.  

The marine science workshops are organized by INGV in collaboration with CNR-ISMAR, CNR-ICMATE, ENEA, UNIPI, UNIPV. The art and maritime art workshops are organized by Nave di Carta in collaboration with SoloArte and the educational services of the Municipality of La Spezia.  

Let's build the common boat. Installation by Ornello Ferraresi. Many small planks on which to write or draw a message or a wish to build a common boat that speaks of the sea, friendship, inclusion, and the future.

  • Sailing to include, educate, care for, and counter exclusion and social distress.
  • The experiences of the UVS associations, the results, and the future of solidarity sailing. Introduction by Lorenzo Brogi, councilor for social policies, educational services, and education of the Municipality of La Spezia
  • Finding the route: youth deviances and the sea experience. With Carmen Genovese, Juvenile Justice Department; Stanislao Pecchioli, Exodus Foundation, and Francesca Andreozzi, Centro Koros.
  • At school for the sea: sailing against school dropouts. With Gabriele Gaudenzi, I Tetragonauti; Alessandrina De Vita, GPS Association; Marco Rossi-Doria, Fondazione Con i Bambini; Antonio Fini, head of IIS Capellini-Sauro.
  • Sailing without barriers: motor and sensory disabilities and the practice of sailing. With Enzo Pastore, Marinando; Luca Pancalli, Italian Paralympic Committee; Francesco Costa, LNI La Spezia; Luca Losio, Spinal Unit at Santa Corona Hospital Pietra Ligure; Marco Frascatore, Sports Councilor, La Spezia.
  • Caring for the sea: cognitive-relational disabilities, mental health, and life on board. With Lorenzo Costa, NonSoloVela; Paolo Cornaglia Ferraris, Tender to Foundation; Donatella Pasquali, coordination of Mental Health Associations in La Spezia.  

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 30:  

  • Rebirth through the sea and sailing: stories of the sea, navigation, and life.
  • Sailing Kids: from nursery ships to solidarity sailing. With Stefano Lanfranco, Life Association, and LNI S. Giovanni a Teduccio delegation, and Luisafrancesca Proto.
  • A Bridge in the Wind The Port of Dreams with Marco Rossato, sailor, upon his return from his tour of Italy to monitor the accessibility of ports and marinas, and Federica Montaresi, Secretary General of AdSP Mar Ligure Orientale.
  • The pedagogy of the sea with Mauro Pandimiglio, pedagogue and sailor, Mal di Mare sailing school, and Giulia Castiglioni, La Nave di Carta. Narrating the sea: stories that help us grow with Lorenza Sala, La Nave di Carta, and Ambra Tonelli, educational services of the Municipality of La Spezia.  

MUSIC WITHOUT BARRIERS: THE MARELIBERA CONCERTS  

Three musical events of the festival:  

September 29 at 7 pm - Performance by Banda Rulli Frulli on Passeggiata Morin. Banda Rulli Frulli was born in Finale Emilia (MO) in September 2010 from an idea by Federico Alberghini. It started as an experimental project within the Carlo and Guglielmo Andreoli School of Music Foundation, a school affiliated with the Child Neuropsychiatry service of the USL company of Mirandola, attentive to social and inclusive issues. The project begins as a marching band, and the first young people to participate are about ten. Currently, there are about 70, and they have performed in prestigious events: from Expo 2015, the May 1st concert, to the Circo Massimo and in front of Pope Francis and the President of the Republic.  

September 30 at 9 pm - At Pin. Concert by Ladri di Carrozzelle. Founded in 1989 as part of the activities of the Arcobaleno Cooperative in Frascati (UVS association), it was the first group in the Italian music scene mainly composed of artists with disabilities. In thirty years of activity, they have surpassed 1500 total concerts, with an average of 50 per year.  

October 1 at 5 pm, Passeggiata Morin - The festival ends with world music performed by the boys and girls of the Crescere Insieme con la Musica Association. The association aims to educate, through music, to respect and cooperation with the goal of raising harmonious individuals and better citizens. It pursues this goal by applying the Suzuki method for music education, developed in the first half of the 1900s by the Japanese musician Shinichi Sukuzi and spread worldwide. The orchestra as a symbol of society.  

EXHIBITIONS: SEA, EMPATHY, SOLIDARITY (Passeggiata Morin, Cantiere della Memoria) The exhibitions and interactive stations discussing the sea, empathy, and solidarity will be visitable in Passeggiata Morin and at Cantiere della Memoria delle Grazie.  

STORIES IN MOTION, created by AIPD Associazione Italiana Persone con Sindrome di Down as part of the ISI Project. A real interactive empathy museum: literally putting oneself in someone else's shoes and walking while listening to their story.  

TOWARDS THE SEA, a virtual journey aboard a wheelchair to reach the sea and embark. Created by 3dCyber from La Spezia.  

BLUENIGHTS AWARD - Winning photos from the "Tell me about your water" and "Why marine sciences matter" contests. Organized by CNR-ISMAR (at Assonautica).  

THE STORIES OF SOLIDARITY IN THE GULF - The long story of solidarity at sea in the Gulf of La Spezia retraced with photos and videos. (At Cantiere della Memoria, Le Grazie).  

THE SAILING AND PARADE  

Saturday, September 30 at 10 am: Sixty boats with people with disabilities or fragility will explain for the Tutti a Bordo! sailing event. All these people will be able to sail thanks to the boats made available by the sailing clubs of the gulf, Circolo della Vela Erix of Lerici, Circolo Velico La Spezia, the sections of the Lega Navale La Spezia and Lerici, Vela Tradizionale, Acquaaria asd, Uisp La Spezia-Val di Magra. From the Marina di Carrara Yacht Club, a real fleet organized by the Mure a dritta Association - a project for rebirth, and Area51 Surf will set sail. From Reggio Emilia, the sailors of Fuorirotta asd will arrive, and from Milan, the delegation from the hospital.  

Sunday, October 1 at 11 am: after the delivery of the solidarity sails to the city and the concert by the Italian Navy Fanfare, everyone will be at sea for the Parade. Blessing of the boats by Father Gianluigi Ameglio, chaplain of Stella Maris – La Spezia.
