Parco della Rimembranza

Parco della Rimembranza project

The Parco della Rimembranza is part of the “La Spezia Forte” project aiming at expanding the Parco delle Mura (literally, Park of the City Walls). Interventions have included requalification works to emphasize the original beauty of this urban park and to improve its infrastructures and furnishing.

Inside the park, a new playground, new public lightning, and new security cameras have been installed. In addition to that, the ancient city walls and the local historical artifacts have been recovered to underline their immense value and a monument to those who died during World War I has been built.

The park was built by local agronomist Alfredo Bartolazzi and extends over the Gaggiola hill. Each tree planted here symbolizes one of the 540 locals who died fighting during World War I, from 1915 to 1918.

In detail, interventions included the restoration of the stairway nearby and of flooring, the replacement of metal open trash cans, maintenance of benches, the restoration of the metal fence and of green areas.
