Muggiano

On the border between the municipalities of La Spezia and Lerici, Muggiano still retains the typical traits of Ligurian villages.

Muggiano is one of the thirteen teams that each year compete in the Palio del Golfo, an historical regatta held each year in La Spezia on the first Sunday of August. Its team has taken part in all the editions of this traditional event, initially under the name of Pertusola, and then under the name of Muggiano. The professional history of the village was born officially in 1974 when some rowers decided to create together a group to support a local small business, a foundry called Fonderia Pertusola.
