Sella Derbi/Bocca dei Cavalin circular route

This circular route starts at Sella Derbi, a panoramic spot along the paved road from Le Grazie to La Castellana. Staying on the seaside, you will walk along the AV5T (Alta Via delle 5 Terre, High Route of the 5 Terre), crossing an area called Pitone and reaching Bocca dei Cavalin. 

Here, you will leave the AV5T and take the AVG (Alta Via del Golfo, High Route of the Gulf) to the right, running along the military paved route leading to the Castellana. Once you have reached 370 m above sea level, you will take the path on the left. After a few sharp bends, it will lead you, following a very steep short stretch, to the Rifugio Castellana (Castellana Lodge), currently closed but offering spectacular views. You will walk along a stretch of the ridge with a view of Campiglia and reach the fork with route 529 to Marola. Continue walking, passing by an abandoned quarry, and you will reach a scenic spot over the Gulf of La Spezia. 

From here, keep descending along a white path until you arrive to Sella Derbi, offering a panoramic view over the Gulf, on the distant Apuan Alps, on the 5 Terre, and on the islands.
