Manarola - Volastra circular route
The starting point is at Manarola, in the church square. Leave the square walking towards the parking lot, turn right into the historical and central part of the village (route 531) and, after about 20 meters when you are already walking among the houses, turn left and you will see a climb going uphill. You will reach the top of the hill, then turn left and follow route 532.
Keep walking along a sloping path through the pass of the hill named Collina del Corniolo. Then, you will reach a fork where you will see route 532C. Go straight and stay on route 532. Keep walking uphill and, once you have passed by a few houses, you will reach the Strada dei Santuari (the Sanctuary route), an unpaved path. This is route 530.
Turn left in direction of Volastra and, after a few minutes, you will see route 502 going down to Manarola coming from route AV5T (Alta Via delle 5 Terre, or “High Route of the 5 Terre”). Keep walking on the sloping path of route 530. You will then pass by a graveyard where the paved stretch of the road begins.
You will go past the fork with route 506V and, after about 500 meters, you will reach the fork with route 506. Here, route 530 ends and you will take route 506. After about 200 meters, cross the road and you will enter the village of Volastra; follow the indications of route 506 and go down the cobbed path.
Just before arriving to the road open to vehicles, you will find the fork with route 502. Leave the cobbed path and turn right on a flat path (route 502). You will walk on a sloping path up to a votive shrine where a descent through the hill begins. Go downhill on this path and when you see a flat path (route 502C), turn left and you will be back to the church square.
Keep walking along a sloping path through the pass of the hill named Collina del Corniolo. Then, you will reach a fork where you will see route 532C. Go straight and stay on route 532. Keep walking uphill and, once you have passed by a few houses, you will reach the Strada dei Santuari (the Sanctuary route), an unpaved path. This is route 530.
