Muzzerone Lodge/Pastore' House circular route

The circular route starts at the parking lot of the Rifugio Muzzerone (Muzzerone lodge), placed along the road taking to Forte del Muzzerone (Muzzerone Fort). You will walk on the AVG/AV5T (Alta Via del Golfo/Alta Via delle 5 Terre, or High Route of the Gulf/High Route of the 5 Terre) towards Portovenere up to the fork with the trail leading to the Rifugio and to route 519. 

Once you are at the lodge, take a stairway, soon becoming a trail, leading to the Casa del Pastore (literally, the Shepard’s House, at 157 m above sea level). Here begins route 517 that, with gentle slope, leads to the military route just beneath the parking lot where you started, crossing route 518 and then 516.

Be careful because once you reach route 516, you will need to walk uphill on a stretch shared between route 516 and route 517, and then you will have to continue on route 517. Route 516 also takes to the proximity of the parking lot, but the climb is harder.
