Fondega Palace

Between 1906 and 1914, the most beautiful examples of Liberty in architecture by Bacigalupi were built here. The elegant building on Via dei Colli was embellished by legendary balconies, circular openings, mascarons, and imaginary figures. In 1923, on a piece of land overlooking Via XX Settembre, Fraco Oliva designed Villa Marmori Ceretti, the property commissioned by Teresita Marmori and Amedeo Ceretti.

Great exponents of the Liberty worked for the wealthiest clientele: Alessandro Mazzucotelli (1865-1938) was the author of legendary works in wrought iron portraying dragonflies and dragons, embellished by roses and butterflies, and Giovanni Beltrami (1860-1923), who designed the skylight bearing the allegory of Spring.

The architect took care of every single detail of the building, from the set of cutleries to some pieces of furniture, in attempt to give shape to the concept of Total Art. The villa, where people “felt in the countryside even if they were in the city”, changed of ownership multiple times over the 20th century and today hosts the Conservatory “Giacomo Puccini”.
