Biassa Castel

Coderone Stronghold, also Coderone Castle

The name of the Coderone Stronghold comes from the word “codem” meaning rocky spur: the stronghold is placed in an area difficult to reach and only accessible from the uphill city district of Biassa. The castle is placed on a rocky spur delimited by wild vegetation. It is currently abandoned and in highly deteriorated conditions, even if some researchers believe that this place is gate to strong earth energies.
Two streams flow around the stronghold and in time they created two trenches, Fosso Canevella (Canevella Trench) and Fosso di Sarron (Sarron Trench). The two steams have names in the local dialect and are called “Canao dè foestri” (literally, Stream of Strangers) and “Canao do diao” (literally, Stream of the Devil), respectively.
The Stronghold was built in mid-13th century for defense purposes, but a number of studies showed that its actual purpose was not really to be used for defense or to monitor the coastline. Underneath the Stonghold, there was an ancient village with its church dedicated to Saint Mary Magdalene, of which today only a few ruins are left. Coderone was an aristocratic residence between the 15th century and the 16th century, but, after being the property of the Biassa family, fell into a such state of degradation that was even intended to be used as a graveyard.
The energy core of this building is said to be on the outer wall of the Stronghold, where there is mysterious hole: close to this hole, energy flows have been observed. Some experts claimed that the energy flowing out of this hole has the function of increasing people’s decision-making capacities and sends out clear and unquestionable messages. This energy flow is called “purification flow” and some visitors argue that they felt something unusual and difficult to interpret when they reached this point.
There is no scientific evidence to officially recognize the energy of this place, but the number of people stating that they have felt a peculiar energy has been constantly increasing.
