Nespolo Lajolo Palace

The building stands close to La Spezia train station and was built between 1904 and 1907, probably on a project by architects Zanazzo. The building was commissioned by Luigia Nespolo, dressmaker and wealthy heiress, and was built close to the area that was considered the most fashionable district of the city. The entrance door is decorated with iris flowers, also found in the entrance hall, on the doors of the apartments, and in fresco on the ceiling where these flowers are interwoven to sinuous ribbons. Above the door, there is a female face resembling Gustav Klimt’s women.
