Palazzina delle Arti L.R. Rosaia
The Palazzina delle Arti, as of today named after Lucio Roberto Rosaia, Mayor of La Spezia from 1993 to 1997 who commissioned the requalification of this building as part of the project “cultural path of the historical center”, was designed around the 20’s and initially it was supposed to be the Health Department of the City.
The building has a Neo-medieval style, a style that between the end of 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century was particularly prolific in the area, and is ideally connected to, even if not historically, the Convento di San Francesco da Paola (Saint Francis of Paola’s Monastery) next door, today hosting the Museo Civico “Amedeo Lia” (Amedeo Lia Civic Museum).
Following the opening of the Lia Museum, the project for the requalification of this building started, as this will become the seat for the Museo del Sigillo, a Special Library of Art and Archeology, and a place for other temporary exhibitions and meetings.
From 1998 to 2015, the Palazzina dell’Arte hosted the Institution for Cultural Services.
